On September 3, 2014, Expression described database changes to EPIC for the Army Logistics Innovation Agency. The browser-based tool ingested policy and doctrine in XML, PDF, Word, and text formats, indexing small conceptual sections alongside document metadata.
The enhancements included sentiment analysis, synonyms for keywords and phrases, partial-word searching, and filters to narrow results. Dublin Core metadata helped preserve document context. Expression also described a modular design using commodity hardware and software, together with program and administrative management intended to support the system throughout its lifecycle.
