In December 2018, Arizona State University announced a $2.4 million MTEC research award led by supply-chain professor Eugene Schneller. ASU partnered with Active Innovations, GHX, and Expression to develop recommendations for defense medical-logistics systems, including DML-ES and the planned LogiCole platform.

The project called first for reviewing existing systems and emerging technologies, then developing dashboard and simulation prototypes. Expression’s planned contribution centered on analytics and visualization for situational-awareness dashboards. Technologies under consideration included predictive modeling, 3D printing, blockchain, and drone delivery; the article presented these as research possibilities.
